Research project: Wild boar in an urban protected area: understanding the effect of humans, habitat and season on its space use.

At the moment, I am studying the space use of wild boar in relation to human activities and ecological conditions in the context of a landscape of fear theory. To do this I apply a standardised, randomised deployment of camera traps within an urban protected area. By researching this, I aim at contributing to methodological improvements of camera trap studies by comparing different spatial distribution models to analyse the same research question. Moreover the insights will provide objective data input for a locally adapted and integrated wild boar management, ultimately contributing to a more efficient sharing of valuable green space and thus to human-wildlife coexistence.
