Research project: Biodiversity on Urban Green Structures.

My research focuses on assessing the biodiversity on green roofs and living walls. In collaboration with multiple partners, I am investigating the present macro-invertebrates, the micro-invertebrates (Collembola and Nematoda), and the microbial communities (bacteria, fungi, and protists) present on these structures. Furthermore, functional analyses are applied where considered suitable. This broad-scale approach makes it possible to gain insight not only in the sustainability of these urban green structures, but also in their potential role in alleviating the problematics that are caused by urbanization.

My favorite quote: “It’s the little things that matter the most.”
